This seminar will interest colleagues who are working on library building projects of all kinds: new buildings, extensions, refurbishments or simply making existing space work better! As the title suggests, the seminar will reflect on the experience from European library building projects over the past twenty years in order to plan the next generation of library buildings.
The seminar will include sessions on sustainable architecture, building refurbishment and working with architects as well as case studies of recent academic building projects across Europe. One day is devoted to a study tour of new library buildings.
This event will take place in Hungary from Tuesday 8 April until Saturday 12 April 2008. Tuesday and Wednesday will be based in Budapest at the National Széchényi Library. Thursday will be devoted to visits to new buildings in Nyíregyháza and Debrecen, staying in Debrecen on Thursday and Friday nights. Fridays programme will be based in Debrecen University Library.
